By reading bloomed.top you agree to these terms. They are short, because the site is simple: one person publishes dated field notes, and you decide what to do with them.

What this journal is, and is not

Every note here is a personal observation made on a stated date, at a stated place, by one observer, using the kit listed at the bottom of the note. It is not a survey, not a monitoring programme, and not a dataset. Counts are of what was visible from a path during one visit; identifications are made in the field, sometimes with a hand lens, occasionally with a book at home. Nothing here is professional ecological, land-management, medical or foraging advice. Do not eat anything because a note says it was nearby.

No warranty

The material is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Dates, coordinates and weather readings are recorded by hand and are not instrument-grade. A phenophase that was right for this valley in this week may not be right for yours.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seasonkeeper and its author are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, this site — including loss caused by acting on an identification, a location or a seasonal timing recorded here.

Access and safety

Descriptions of routes and sites are written for someone who already knows the area. Conditions change: gates are locked, bridges wash out, snow closes roads, and land managers change the rules. Check current access and weather with the managing agency before you go, and treat every note here as history rather than as an itinerary.

Intellectual property

The notes, the figures and the code that draws them are the author's work and are protected by copyright. You may quote a short extract with a link to the note it came from, and you may point other people at it freely. Republishing several notes, or a whole month of them, needs permission — ask at [email protected]. Scientific names are nobody's property, and species data you gather yourself remains yours.

Notes link to reference material — herbaria, weather archives, agency pages — because that is where the identification came from. Those sites are not ours, we do not control them, and we are not responsible for what they say or whether they stay online.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other readers, do not present a note as professional advice to someone else, and do not use the coordinates here to trespass. If you are collecting as part of permitted scientific work, cite it as a personal observation with the date attached.

Changes

These terms may be revised; the date at the top of the page changes when they are. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. Last updated: 18 September 2026.
